BIOGRAPHY

Growing up as one of only two black girls in a small Austrian village, Marielle was confronted with the negative side of standing out early on. Having to overcome the struggles of race and unconventional dreams in a very conservative environment, she is driven by her love for circus and movement and continues to be different and stand out with pride.

She discovered juggling with her best friend in high school and the hobby quickly turned into a passion that led them to their first performing experiences. After graduating they moved across the country to attend the Circus Academy of Vienna. While living in Vienna and working towards a duo career, Marielle developed new skills and also gained a variety of teaching experiences. She graduated with a diploma both in circus arts and circus pedagogy. Eventually, the duo had to go their separate ways and Marielle, seeking to become a solo artist, took the next step and moved to Portugal where she attended the professional circus school SALTO and graduated in June 2021.

Her background in gymnastics and music has a great impact on her creations and movement style. Wanting to break with traditional static acts, Marielle combines her juggling with acrobatics and dance to create fluid movement. Inspired by music, she transforms what she hears and feels into visual patterns aiming to surprise and mesmerize the audience with her unique style.
